Better member communication: beyond the WhatsApp group

WhatsApp is where South African communities talk, so it makes sense to use it. But a busy group is a terrible place to keep records. Notices scroll away, decisions are forgotten and polls cannot be trusted.
Use WhatsApp for reach, an app for the record
- Announcements: post the notice in the app, then share the link to the group so everyone sees it.
- Polls: a proper poll gives one vote per member and live results, with a secret ballot when needed.
- Surveys: a link anyone can answer, with charts and an Excel export for reports.
- Events: an event page with RSVP gives you a headcount and a reminder.
Keep messages short and consistent
One announcement per topic, a clear title, the date and what you want members to do. Pin the important ones.
Respect members' time
Avoid late-night messages and long voice notes for official notices. Agree group rules and share them.
